UFAS EXPERTS HUD
has said in PIH Notice 2002-01 that Public Housing Authorities must comply
with 28 CFR Part 8, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act by performing a
needs assessment and developing a transition plan. Many organizations can help you
develop a needs assessment. Only ADA,
Inc. can help you with the most essential feature of your transition plan -
evaluating the property. |

Development
of a transition plan requires your PHA to “Identify physical obstacles in the
recipient’s facilities that limit the accessibility of its programs or
activities to individuals with handicaps;” and to “describe in detail the
methods that will be used to make the facilities accessible”. (Section 504— 8.21 (4) (i) and 8.21 (4)
(ii) ADA,
Inc. believes that a physical inspection of the premises by a team familiar
with the UFAS is the only way to gather the detailed information necessary to
comply with Section 8.21. · It
can’t be done by simply walking through an apartment and looking around. · It
must be done by actually measuring areas to determine compliance or
non-compliance. You
must ask yourself, can my architect really deliver what HUD wants from me? ADA,
Inc. has extensive experience using the UFAS!
Not just a copy on our desk. Our
experience in performing facility evaluations for public housing authorities
is unsurpassed. ADA, Inc. provides the
kind of accurate and thorough information that a housing authority needs when
making Section 504 compliance decisions. Your
housing authority cannot “identify physical obstacles in the recipient’s
facilities that limit the accessibility of its programs or activities”
without evaluating your facilities for compliance with the Uniform Federal
Accessibility Standards (UFAS). Do you
need accurate results that you can depend on?
Let our expert professional staff evaluate your buildings and
facilities, and you will have a baseline of information you can rely on. ADA, Inc. has been performing UFAS
evaluations since 1992. |
